Competition Team

Training for athletes with a goal

Dragon Spirit Martial Arts is rooted in Taekwondo while also training for open martial arts tournaments. Students of all ages, all ranks, all schools, and all martial arts styles are welcome if they want national-level competition training.

Athletes may continue training with their home school while joining the Nationals team for focused preparation. Belt rank advancement is emphasized for national competitors; the primary mission is developing elite competitors rather than operating as a traditional weekly class school.

Team Formation

We are building a committed group of athletes and families who want structured preparation for higher-level competition, regardless of current school or martial arts style.

Elite Athlete Development

Training emphasis includes fundamentals, forms, poomsae, sparring readiness, weapons, breaking, conditioning, discipline, and competition mindset.

National Team Path

The program is being organized around a long runway toward AAU Taekwondo Nationals in 2027 and open martial arts tournaments for athletes serious about national-level competition.

2027 Nationals

AAU Taekwondo Nationals preparation

The next chapter of Dragon Spirit Martial Arts is built around competition readiness, team standards, and preparing athletes to attend AAU Taekwondo Nationals in 2027. This team is open to athletes from any school or martial arts style who want respectful, focused national-level preparation.

About The Dojang

A place to train with purpose

Dragon Spirit Martial Arts is built around Taekwondo as a holistic pursuit: physical skill, mental discipline, ethical conduct, and personal growth under pressure.

Led by Thomas Werner, Master Instructor, the school now emphasizes elite competition development rooted in courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. Taekwondo is the main style, but the team welcomes athletes from any martial arts background and is designed to complement, not disrespect, an athlete's home school.

01 Courtesy and Integrity

Students learn respect for instructors, fellow students, traditions, and the training space.

02 Perseverance

Rank progress rewards consistent effort, technical growth, and the willingness to keep improving.

03 Self-Control and Spirit

Training challenges students to stay composed, make wise choices, and never give up.
